Harvey’s Point Hotel takes on a special magic at Christmas. Lough Eske and the Blue Stack Mountains interact with the seasonal light to create mystic hues while inside the hotel the traditional festivities reflect the very best in Irish family hospitality.
Story-telling around a blazing peat and log fire, informal singing and poetry sessions, cookery demonstrations, fine wine tastings and rambles in the Bluestack Mountains are just some of the traditional activities on offer.
Christmas guests at Harvey’s Point join in the Gysling family’s own celebrations. Arriving on Christmas Eve, they are whisked to one of the most palatial suites in Ireland before enjoying the gourmet food for which the hotel is justly famous and then singing carols around the Christmas tree with the local choir.
Christmas morning begins with a leisurely Irish breakfast and rumor has it that Gino the Chef will sing a song or two while flipping pancakes. Walk off the hearty breakfast to make room for lunch with a treasure hunt on the hotel grounds. Farmhouse turkey and honey roast Irish ham, ‘all the trimmings’ and Christmas pudding feature in the Gala Christmas Lunch which is followed by a sing-along in the Cocktail Lounge. And of course, there is a visit from Santa.
The festivities continue on St. Stephen’s Day with a brisk walk to the Gysling Family’s private Stables Bar to enjoy hot toddies and mince pies. Dinner is served in the award winning Restaurant followed by ‘Magic of the Musicals’ entertainment in the Cocktail Lounge.
In the (hopefully unlikely) event of snow or ice, there is a special chauffeur service available at a reasonable cost. Those travelling alone are made to feel very welcome and it is a great opportunity to meet new people.
The four day Harvey’s Point Christmas Package, arriving 24th December, includes Four Nights Bed and full Irish Breakfast, Two gourmet dinners and traditional Christmas Day Lunch and Supper.
