Masterclass Creative Writing Break in February at Harvey’s Point

This very special package will include full participation in the weekend-long workshop, light lunch and refreshments on both Saturday and Sunday, with two nights accommodation in one of the luxurious and plush rooms at the hotel, and one exquisite dinner for two in the famed AA Rosette awarded restaurant at Harvey’s Point. The workshop will be intensive but fun and will encourage writers to draw inspiration from the superb natural environment at Harvey's Point, which is located at the foot of the Bluestack Mountains of Donegal, and on the banks of Lough Eske. The workshop will have a particular focus on writing and completing a piece of prose or poetry for possible publication with The Stoners' Press, a new publishing house recently established in Donegal to showcase emerging writers.

Places on the Masterclass workshop will be limited to ensure quality time for each writer, so please reserve your place as soon as possible by contacting Harvey’s Point Hotel at sales@harveyspoint.com or + 353 (0) 74 9722208.
Travel to Harvey’s Point is hassle-free, with nearby Sligo town easily accessible by train or air from Dublin, and collection from the hotel (just under an hour’s drive away) can be arranged at time of booking. There is of course ample secure parking within the gated grounds of the hotel.

Itinerary:

Thursday 5th February, 7.30pm - 9.30pm
Arrive at Harvey’s Point at your leisure. Early afternoon arrivals are welcome to have dinner and drinks at their own discretion, relax in their room or tour the grounds of the hotel. Meet the fellow members of the creative writing workshop group in the Harvey’s Point Boardroom and participate in a ‘meet & greet’ with their fellow writers!

Friday 6th February, 10.00am to 5.00pm
Start the day with a delicious and hearty Harvey’s Point breakfast. Assemble in the Harvey’s Point Boardroom 10.00am where guests will enjoy a day of challenging and rewarding instruction in creative writing. Regular breaks for refreshments and lunch from 1.00pm to 2.00pm.

Saturday 7th February, 11.00am - 5.00pm
Following breakfast assemble once again in the Boardroom for 10.00am. The day's workshop will begin with the writers rediscovering their 'Sense of Wonder' which we tend to lose as we move from childhood into adulthood, through playfully writing in the great outdoors and allowing our senses to be stimulated by all the natural wonders that there are to experience in the magnificent setting that is Harvey's Point. Writing which is made accessible and interesting to our readers is best achieved when we write through our senses as this affords for 'showing' rather than 'telling' the reader something. Later in the day, the writers will be encouraged to write and complete a piece of prose or poetry for possible publication with the northwest's new publishing house, The Stoners' Press. Who was it that said: 'Nothing happens on Sundays?'
