Discover Donegal

County Donegal is a largely Irish-speaking region bordering the Atlantic Ocean in northwestern Ireland. It’s known for its castles, rugged coastline and mountains such as the iconic, quartzite Mount Errigal.

Formerly a private estate, Glenveagh National Park encompasses forests, lakes and bogland in the central Derryveagh Mountains. Its 1870s manor house, the Scottish Baronial-style Glenveagh Castle, is renowned for its Victorian-era gardens.

It’s true to say that there could be 50 or more reasons to explore the entire county of Donegal in all its mystic beauty but I have limited my selection in terms of using Harvey’s Point as a base over a period of a five day trip.
